Virtual CD Server - Axonix

System Prerequisites
The Virtual CD Server requires the following network components:

    A TCP/IP network using 10/100BaseT Ethernet and Category 5 RJ45 cabling.
A Windows 9x/NT computer for system administration.
Ethernet patch cable to attach the Virtual Server to the network.

Physical Connection

  1. Insert the Category 5 Ethernet patch cable into the RJ-45 connector at the rear of the Virtual CD Server. Insert the other end into a network hub.
  2. Connect the power cable to the Virtual CD Server and plug it into the power strip or outlet. Use of a surge protector is strongly recommended for long system life.
  3. Turn on the Virtual CD/DVD Server.

The Virtual CD Server is a "plug-and share" mixed drive direct network-attached storage device, with embedded multi-protocol software. Industry standard communication protocols for Novell (NCP), Microsoft Networks (SMB), and Web browsers (HTTP) are used to access the Virtual CD Server. The unit's standard configuration is for a 10/100BaseTX Ethernet network, and is based on a FAT16 file system, which requires the "8.3" naming convention (8-character maximum file name, 3-character maximum extension) for all volumes mounted on the Virtual CD Server.

Administration of the unit is done using the CDVision Administrator program. The program runs under Windows 9x/NT.

  1. Download the program installation file.
  2. Unzip the file. As part of the unzip process, the installation will begin.
  3. Accept the screen defaults to install the program.
